Sealers and Colorants

To protect your grout against stains and water penetration (which could cause water damage to the substructure), we always recommend a sealer with any cement-based grout. With a silicone, lacquer, or acrylic base, the sealer helps to make the cement-based grout water and stain resistant, which helps to avoid mold and mildew in the grout joints.

Clear Seal
A clear, water-based sealer should be reapplied every year or two, depending on the amount of moisture the tiled area experiences. With a clear seal, we simply apply the sealant over any color of grout.

Epoxy Seal
With an epoxy seal, we can color match your grout, or completely change the color of the grout. An epoxy seal or colorant, is expected to last up to 15 years.

New homes can benefit greatly from sealing the grout, as many builders do not provide sealing. Applying a sealer to a new tile installation will extend the clean look of the tile and protect the subsurface.
